BarCamp Planning

I try to give my best to whatever I'm focusing on at a time.

I'm currently prioritizing based on guilt and deadlines and since BarCamp is less than a week away, that's got my attention. Work projects, friends, family stuff - that's still getting done (could be done better, I suppose), in case you're wondering. I know I can't be all things to everyone at the same time, so I work my life like a project. It's automatic, I attend to the most critical functionality first and work my way up as time and resources allow - hence my sad appearance and need of haircut, clothes, manicure, gas, pens, fabric softener... shucks - I don't even have time to go to the doctor!

However, I digress. We're fully booked. The venue - the Cellar - in the basement of the Senator can only hold 100 people. Based on last year's attendance, I expect about 80 to show. Tough to get people to speak, but I'm hoping as we get closer to the event more people will sign up.

I am awed and humbled by the volunteers who are so willing to help, this is great! It will be tough and interesting to see how BarCamp comes off this year without Ryan in attendance. Usually he does the work and I just show up late, present and drink beer. I've decided not to talk this year and focus only on organizing and facilitating the day.

BarCamp Saskatoon '08 does need more speakers and more interest - especially since it's one of the concurrent National Digital Media Day events. I'm not too worried though, in past years many people popped up at the last minute with something to say. Hopefully this year won't be different.
